Changes in Soil Microbial Community along a Chronosequence of Perennial Mugwort Cropping in Northern China Plain

نویسندگان

چکیده

Perennial cropping plays a vital role in regulating soil carbon sequestration and thus mitigating climate change. However, how perennial affects the microbial community remains elusive. Using field investigation, this study was conducted to examine effects of mugwort along chronosequence (that is, wheat–maize rotation, 3-year, 6-year, 20-year cropping) on temperate regions Northern China. The results showed that highest total, actinomycete, fungi phospholipid fatty acids (PLFAs) were found 3-year soils. By contrast, all PLFAs groups lowest Network complexity under each three durations greater than rotation. Changes total nitrogen phosphorus content as well ratio ammonium nitrate primarily explained variations chronosequence. Our observations highlight contrasting responses short-term long-term compared with conventional rotations would have critical implications for sustainable agricultural management regions.

Spartina alterniflora invasion alters soil microbial community composition and microbial respiration following invasion chronosequence in a coastal wetland of China

The role of exotic plants in regulating soil microbial community structure and activity following invasion chronosequence remains unclear. We investigated soil microbial community structure and microbial respiration following Spartina alterniflora invasion in a chronosequence of 6-, 10-, 17-, and 20-year-old by comparing with bare flat in a coastal wetland of China. S. alterniflora invasion sig...

GeoChip profiling of microbial community in response to global changes simulated by soil transplant and cropping

Microbe plays an important role in driving biogeochemical cycles, thus it is of great interest to understand microbial responses and feedbacks to global changes. We have recently analyzed functional potentials of soil microbial community via a high-throughput, microarray-based metagenomic tool named GeoChip 3.0 to illustrate microbial responses to global changes simulated by soil transplant and...

Changes in soil microbial community composition in response to fertilization of paddy soils in subtropical China

Repeated fertilizer applications to cultivated soils may alter the composition and activities of microbial communities in terrestrial agro-ecosystems. In this study, we investigated the effects of different long term fertilization practices (control (CK), three levels of mineral fertilizer (N1P1K1, N2P2K2, and N3P3K3), and organic manure (OM)) on soil environmental variables and microbial commu...
